Parts of speech
अंग्रेजी व्याकरण में शब्दों को उसके कार्य के आधार परआठ भागों में बाँटा गया है जो parts of speech कहलाता है |
words have been divided into eight parts in grammar according to their functions.
(1) Noun-संज्ञा
(2) Pronoun -सर्वनाम
(3) Adjective-विशेषण
(4) Verb-क्रिया
(5) Adverb-क्रिया-विशेषण
(6) Preposition-अव्यय
(7) Conjunction-समुच्चय बोधक
(8) Interjection-विस्मयादिबोधक अव्यय
(1) Noun:- संज्ञा उस शब्दों को कहते है जिससे किसी व्यक्ति , जगह या वस्तु के नाम का बोध हो , उसे Noun कहते है |
A noun is the name of a person , place or thing . it is called noun.
जैसे - Ram , Patna , Book , Pen etc.
(2)Pronoun:- संज्ञा की जगह प्रयुक्त होने वाले शब्द को सर्वनाम कहते है |
A pronoun is a word used instead of a Noun.
जैसे - I , we , she , they , you , he , it .
n :- संज्ञा की जगह प्रयुक्त होने वाले शब्द को सर्वनाम कहते है |

(3) Adjective :- संज्ञा की विशेषता बतलाने वाले शब्द को विशेषण कहा जाता है |
An adjective is a word used to qualify a noun.
जैसे -good , tall , red , new , bad , old , tall boy etc.
(4) Verb :- क्रिया उस शब्द को कहते है जिससे कुछ करने या होने बोध होता हो VERB कहलाता है |
A verb is a word used to say something about some person , place or thing.
जैसे - go , read , walk , play etc .
(5) Adverb:- क्रियाविशेषण उस शब्द को कहते है जो क्रियाविशेषण या किसी और क्रियाविशेषण का गुण बतलाये , Adverb कहलाता है |
An adverb is a word which qualifies a verb , adjective or another adverb , is called adverb .
जैसे - slowly , very , badly , nicely , beautifully .
Example :- I am very fat .
Ram run slowly .
NOTE :- प्रायः Adjective के अंत में "ly" लगाकर Adverb बनाया जाता है |

NOTE :- कुछ ऐसे Adjective है जिसका Adverb अलग प्रकार से बनता है |

(6) Preposition:- अव्यय उस शब्द को कहते है जो किसी संज्ञा या सर्वनाम का संबध वाक्य के अन्य शब्दों से बतलाता है |
A Preposition is a word used with a Noun or Pronoun to show its relation to some other word in the sentence .
जैसे - on , to , of , into , upon , in , for , with , under , over etc .
Exampal - The book is on the table .
We are in this room .
(7) Conjunction :- Conjunction उस शब्द को कहते है जिससे शब्दों , शब्द समूहों तथा वाक्यों को जोड़ा जाता है |
A conjunction is a word used to join together word phrases or sentences .
जैसे - and , so , till , who , when , but , because , that , which , therefore etc .
Example -(1)Jatin and Raji are ready .
(2)He ran fast but he missed the bus .
(3)She works because she needs money .
(8) Interjection :- उस शब्द को कहते है जिससे अचनाक भावना की अभिव्यक्ति हो interjection कहलाता है |
An interjection is a word which expresses some sudden feeling is called
Interjection .
जैसे - Hurrah ! -> खुशी के लिए
Fie ! Fie ! -> घृणा के लिये
Alas -> दुःख के लिये
Example - Hurrah ! India has won the match .
